Handmade Khan Potli and Coin purses, Sling bags crafted by underprivileged women from Pune & Kolhapur
Date: 10 February to 20 February 2025
Corvee Foundation conducts Handcrafted Cloth Bag Making Workshops to equip women with creative, income-generating skills that can be practiced from home. These sessions train participants to make earrings, necklaces, pendants, and bangles using eco-friendly materials such as quilling paper, fabric, threads, and beads. The workshops are beginner-friendly and designed to boost confidence, precision, and aesthetic sense. All essential resources—including raw materials, tools, trainer fees, and participant stipends—are fully covered by the foundation, ensuring inclusive access for women from all backgrounds.
A standout feature of these sessions is the training in quilling paper jewellery, where women learn to roll and shape paper strips into lightweight, colorful designs. In addition, participants are guided in making fabric and thread-based ornaments, which combine traditional textures with modern styles. The jewellery is not only beautiful and affordable but also promotes sustainability and eco-conscious living. The skills learned allow women to cater to festive, casual, and gifting markets.
The products created during these workshops are often displayed and sold at exhibitions and fundraising events, where they receive enthusiastic responses. Corvee Foundation supports ongoing sales efforts and encourages women to launch micro-businesses or contribute to collective group orders. These workshops provide more than just skill—they open doors to financial independence, creative expression, and community upliftment through handmade artistry.
